Risk Operations Analyst

As Risk Operations Analyst at Stripe, you work at the intersection of financial risk, compliance, and operations. You'll manage relationships with Stripe's global payment and financial partners, ensuring policies and workflows mitigate risk while enabling strategic growth. You'll evaluate merchants, assess regulatory and contractual risk, and advise cross-functional teams on building scalable, compliant processes.

What you'll do

1. Assess merchant suitability to process on Stripe, from venture-backed startups to established institutions, by evaluating regulatory and financial risk
2. Ensure policies, operations, and workflows align with financial partner needs and service level agreements
3. Identify risk trends and report findings to cross-functional teams to enhance detection systems
4. Question assumptions, suggest process improvements, and drive their implementation while adhering to established controls
5. Advise operational teams on building scalable processes that ensure compliance and risk mitigation
6. Analyze feedback patterns and use insights to drive improvements to processes and tooling
7. Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams, Stripe users, and financial partners on complex, high-risk decisions
8. Contribute to due diligence strategy systems and help scale processes across the risk operations ecosystem

What you bring

1. 5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, or operations in a fast-moving environment
2. Proven track record scaling operational processes and driving quantifiable improvements
3. Experience working cross-functionally on complex problems, with deep empathy for entrepreneurs
4. Strong ability to use data to quantify problems, tell a compelling story, and influence solutions
5. Sound judgment navigating non-binary, high-risk decisions with ownership and accountability
6. Creative, pragmatic problem solver who challenges the status quo and considers problems from a customer perspective
7. Preferred: experience with risk assessment in fintech environments or knowledge of payment processing systems and associated risks
